.....I'm not quite sure what that is, but it sounds enticing! ;-)

Hello VT Friends,

It has been YEARS since I have posted one of these, but I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity!

We'll be making our rounds in South America and after spending 2 weeks blazing through Patagonia, we will find our way to BUENOS AIRES ready for some fun nights (and a hot shower!). With a colorful group of VTers in tow, we would love to meet up with some of the locals (and not-so-locals) and spend a fabulous night out in this exciting city.

We'll be spending 4 nights in Buenos Aires from Nov. 27th to Dec. 1st before flying off to Brazil---so a VT Meet on that Friday, Nov. 28th would be ideal! We also hope to catch a fútbol game that Sunday if the Boca Juniors are in town.

Before posting on the "Meetings and Events" page, we'd like some ideas from folks on a great place to meet up for some fine wine, dining, and dancing. One suggestion from our fine Trekking Guide, gfinesilver, is to meet up at "Catedral." We can enjoy tapas and Tango Lessons all in one place!

Any other suggestions where we can host a "VT South American Fiesta" in one of the world's most exciting cities?

After weeks of hiking through the Andes through unpredictable wind, rain, sun... I'm sure most of us will be smelly and muddy by the time we reach Buenos Aires. Any sign of sunshine will be a beautiful thing!

And yes, Ms. Gypsy.....we'll be there (smelly and muddy) to help you blow out the birthday candles! ;-))

Ladies, I have Ricky's info so we need to be sure to send off a "work of art" on that VT Thong for him! Traditionally the thongs have been decorated with signatures and luscious lipstick kisses.

There's no telling what condition these thongs will leave Buenos Aires with this crowd....

We'll have to think of something creative for name tags since we won't have Ricky around then.
Actually, instead of name tags, I think it's best we just pin our hotel addresses and phone numbers on ourselves. I've been out and about with this bunch of hooligans before, and believe me.....there's always a person (or article of clothing) missing the next day!!

oh gg, the rediculousness! the humanity!

1) Correction, we will be there 3 nights, Friday to Monday starting November 28.

We will need a big space because, beyond the 15 or so of us, we hope to have lots of other local friends new and old to join us.

The plan would be something like this and will be revised:

Friday - Dinner and fiesta to kick things off with a possible Tango lesson and show.
Saturday - San Telmo and Recoleta tour and markets. Possible parillada and nightclub tonight.
Sunday - Futbol match. At the Bombonera in La Boca if there is a game there, schedule still to be established.
Monday - off to iguazu to nurse our 3 day hangovers.

GG, I really would like to know more about the VT thongs. are you doing the autographing? are they used thongs? will we be required to wear them for the next few days?

It has been a long-standing tradition at every VT Meeting to have a collection of signatures on postcards from the host city sent to various VT members who are unable to attend the event. Some of us have taken that concept to a new level and there have been various lucky VT members (Wonky included) who have received signed VT Thongs (yes, you can order them online). The 'traditional' VT Thong has been distributed from NYC....Barcelona....and soon to be Buenos Aires.

Better than a Hallmark Card when you want to "send the very best." It kinda makes the statement: "Having a great time, wish you were here!" Sort of.

Don't worry Ricky, they will not be USED thongs we're signing! (I'll do everything in my power to keep these tidy whitey thongs hidden from these hooligans along the Patagonia hike, in case they run out of clean undies!) ;-)

So G-Fine, we will need your John Hancock on the thong (no pun intended)

This is a very RARE occasion to get all of us into the same city at the same time! So it's very exciting. There will be folks flying in from East Coast and West Coast of the US, Europe, Australia. We were trying to squeeze in a jaunt to Easter Island but we just couldn't make it happen this time around. Thus, we promised Willy_Wonka we would all dress up as Moai Statues and follow her around. ;-)
(I'm putting feelers out for those costumes btw, Wonky!)

Well Ricky, we'll certainly have to include the Mrs. in on the fun! We'll be sure to send Sheila some greetings on the autographed "souvenir" as well! And, hey, I know the perfect caption for the prized framed thong on your office wall, "MY FAVORITE SECRET GUILTY PLEASURE" ;-))

The autographed VT Thongs are all good, clean, silly fun (that is until somebody ends up wearing it on their head at the end of the night).

Wonks, while you're digging up the superwoman photo of yourself, why not share the "Ninja Turtle" pic as well! (G-fine might want to borrow the costume!) ;-)) That pic still cracks us up.

And J - You need to include yourself in that "Wild and Crazy" bunch. Tbone and I were recently recalling that infamous night out in NYC when one Ms. Gypsy had a little more than a few cocktails. Ohh... that walk home with you was priceless!

Gang, this is why we need to find the perfect location for us in this city---some place FUN, and something large enough to fit everybody with a CENTRALIZED location and easily accessible in case anyone is slightly "impaired." And this is only on FRIDAY night! We still have the rest of the weekend to address. ;-)

i'll be relying on gabe to pick me up and haul me over his shoulder and take me back to our hotel, because im gonna let loose and get smashed. ive already marked that date in my diary "day to get hammered". :)
