| New Orleans | Jazz Fest transportation Posted: Wed March 26, 2008 09:50 PM UTC
I'm heading to NOLA for the 2nd weekend of Jazz Fest and am wondering if anyone familiar with the area (or has done this before) can tell me what taxi fare from the central business district (St. Charles/Poydras) to the fairgrounds would cost (approximately).
The shuttle bus is $16 r/t pp but I was told that a taxi would only cost about $10 each way (this person is also known to be a slight exaggerator, so I'm unsure if this is true). There are 4 of us going and I'm thinking it might be easier and more convenient just to take a taxi. Does anyone have any insight? I made the mistake of taking a taxi to the Voodoo Festival years ago and it took us forever to find a cab to leave. I don't really want to spend my time trying to hail a cab to get back, but also don't know that we need to spend $70 to get back and forth on the bus. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks VTers! |

The most informative website I've ever seen about Jazzfest: http://jazzfest.swagland.com/ Your question is answered on the Transportation page of the site.
This guy knows everything you could possibly want to know about the Fest. I'm in contact with him on another travel site I visit. If you have questions beyond what's on his site, write him and ask--he's very helpful.
