duomo "scaffoldato"

Hi there

Does anyone know when renovation work at the Duomo is scheduled to finish? I am planning to visit Milan by the end of the year, but I would like to see the building free of scaffolding.

It was scheduled to finish at the end of 2006! Therefore I doubt whether anyone will hazard a guess as to when it really will be finished.

At the end of May you can almost see the front of the Cathedral in the its totality, the 80% for the precision. By the end of the year you the work will finish.

When you are there take the opportunity to walk around the roof which allows you to see the spires and sculptures at close range. There is a charge to do this, about EUR5.00 but it is well worth it.

I have just visited the Duomo and most of the façade was free of scaffolding, except the lower part. The price to climb to the roof is 5 euro on foot and 7 euro with the lift, but the experience is worth its price! Enjoy Milan!
