Jerez de la Frontera Moving to Jerez de la Frontera
Posted: Wed March 26, 2008 06:44 PM UTC
I have just accepted a job in Jerez de la Frontera in a school but I'm not too sure if I want to live in the town of Jerez, as I don't want to run into my students on my days off. How far is it from Jerez to Cadiz? Could I travel by bus every weekday morning?
Are there any other nice towns close to Jerez that would be nice to live? Also how much should I expect to pay for an apartment? I will be working in the school for at least 1 year so it would be a long term rental.
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

This is a relocation question so does not really belong here. However Distance is about 15 miles. Population of Jerez around 60,000 so not exactly a village. I think it would be a lovely place to live -maybe not as lively for a young person as Dublin or Cadiz.

Try "ex- pats Jerez" in Google for more info. and Good luck.

For some reason VT doesn't like relocation questions in the forum, so be carfeful :O but just to assure you Jerez is lively enough with plenty of bars and even live gigs. I will send you an email now ;)

ok, I just wanna correct the info, its more than 15 miles and it took me about 40 minutes on highway (i drive fast :D), whats more there are always traffic jams and you will stuck there for one hour (in the summer).. I dont know how it is with buses, but they dont run so often and definitely you cannot live in cadiz and work in jerez.. But jerez is nice and medium size town(or city:)) with all you need.. so I would advice you to stay there.. if you need more info about cadiz, here you go http://whatcadiz.com
have a nice day

You can live in Cadiz and work in Jerez. I live in Cadiz and work in Pto Real, which isn't as far but I use the same train as you'd use to go to Jerez. I admit it is a long commute from Cadiz to Jerez too, especially if you live in the centre. I agree it takes about 40 mins by car and train.

I suggested to her El puerto de Santa Maria which is closer.

I found that out the hard way when they deleted by relocation forum post :(

I then asked for a relocation forum, but as yet nothing :(

I think it would be highly useful and is of course related to travel.
