hi im from dublin,ireland and im trying to work out the easiest way to get to koh phangan ill be going around july this year with 3 others because wer students we dont have alot of cash the cheapest way i have seen so far ia a flight to bangkok and train or bus /boat and that comes to about 900 euro is this the cheapest or am i looking in the wrong place?someone please help?and wat is the night life like on normal nights wen der is no fmd?

From bangkok you can go by flight,bus or train to Surat-thani(Province) and then take boat to Pha-Ngan island(Koh Phangan).
By Bus : You can take bus to Koh Phangan(include boat ticket)from any agency at Kaosan road it cost about 5-700 baht(10-14 euro)
By train : You can take train to Surat-thani and then take bus to the shore and then take boat to Phangan cost all about 1000 baht(20 euro) http://www.railway.co.th/english/index.asp
By Air : You can take the airplane from any airlines such as Nok air(www.nokair.com), Air asia(www.airasia.com),Thai Air(www.thaiair.com)or 1-2-go airline(www.fly12go.com) it cost about 1000-2000 baht(20-40 euro)

If you can spare abit of cash then the quickest way is to fly Via Koh Samui otherwise follow all the other travellers heading south by bus and boat.

You can do the train/bus/ferry for 1000 baht, and you can buy the ticket at one of the many travel agents in bangkok, but be prepared for a solid day of travel. I was told it would be a 13 hour trip, but from start to finish it took 20 hours.
I was there in high season and flights to koh-samui were ridiculous, but I think they'll have gone down now. depends on how much time u have to spare.
Haad Rin is bangin around FM parties, and even Half Moon parties but it can empty out after/in between.
If you have the time and money to get there, I'd advise you to check out Koh Chang. (around 6 hours of travel from Koh Phangan, ticket was about 1500 baht i think)
