San Francisco Teenage in San Francisco

Going to San Francisco in August with 17 year old daughter, any good tips for night-time activities, like bars / grills with live music that don't have an 18 or 21 or over rule. Or Dinner shows etc. She's very broadminded so no problems with nudity, language etc

I'd be interested to know this as well. The company I work for will be taking people to San Francisco this summer and some of them will be under 21, so I'll be seeking some night time activities for minors.

I know the shops along Union Square (Macy's, etc) tend to stay open until 9pm. How late do the shops/restaurants at Pier 39 stay open to?

For both of you, the Hard Rock Cafe, at Pier 39, might be a good place to visit. They will have live music from time to time. They also stay open until about 11 PM, I believe. You both could also look at the following website: www.whatsonwhen.com. This site always has quite a few listings. For Robyn, you might look at the sites for the San Francisco Giants, and the Oakland A's baseball teams. They do have group rates. Gary

Another general site that might be helpful, www.zvents.com. The Punchline Comedy Club: (www.punchlinecomedyclub.com), allows 16+ with parent, and JazzatPearls: (www.jazzatpearls.com), allows 16+ with ID. Gary

SFgate.com is a good source. Also, specifically check out:

Slim's: http://www.slims-sf.com/

and

The Great American Music Hall: http://www.gamh.com/calendar/

If she's into it, there are many great museums too like the MOMA. Here's a guide: http://www.museumspot.com/cities/sanfrancisco.htm

You can do so much! First, I highly recommend the hilarious dinner show Tony & Tina's Wedding at Pier 39. It is the best dinner show and so fun, especially for girls. If you have never heard of it, it is like you are a guest at the wedding and get to experience all the action surrounding you. Check it out here:
http://www.pier39shows.com/
*The Cheesecake Factory at the top of Macy's Union Square has a great patio overlooking Union Square, and that is fun on a summer night too.
*Giants games are always fun, if that is up your alley.
*This can be night time or anytime, but I love going with my girlfriends to the restaurant at Neiman Marcus in Union Square, which also overlooks the city. It is a little fancy and the food is great and you get little treats (mmmm the strawberry popovers! I need to get to SF).

I could go on forever, but this should get you started. Where are you staying? I can personally recommend hotels too!

Also, there's this new website you should check out that helps with trip planning, and they are based out of CA.
