| Taipei | in transit thru taipei, HELP! Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 04:16 AM UTC
Help please!
I have invited my wife's sister and mother to visit us in Canada. I have sent all the necessary documents required by the Philippine and Canadian immigration including airline tickets. They are stopping over for a few hours in Taipei and then on to Canada. I heard tonight that the Taipei immigration is wanting a "PECO STAMP" I have no idea what this is or where I can obtain one for our travellers. Can you HELP me? Thanks, Joe |

I recently passed immigration on CKS-airport in Taipeh/Taoyuan for a short layover. Nobody asked me for that "PECO"-stamp.Unfortunately I have also no isea, what this could be. I just heard of an electricity-provider in US named Peco and of a people counting system (PEopleCOunter)!
Sorry, not being able to help you, but maybe my hints will be of some use! Good Luck!

I think PECO stands for Philippine Economic and Cultural Office, which is essentially Taiwan's embassy in Manila and I think the "stamp" they're referring to is a visa. Philippine citizens require a Taiwan visa to be able to go out the airport; transit passengers do not require a visa but can just roam around the departure/duty free lounges.

I think that should be TECO- Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines. That means some sort of visa. But if you're stopping for a few hours and staying inside the airport, there is no need to get a visa for Taiwan. Is the airline, EVA Air? If so, just confirm with the airline or the travel agent about this stamp. They can surely help with this if needed.
