| San Francisco | Flight Information Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 02:38 AM UTC
Is there direct flights (without stop-overs) between any major European city & San Jose (SJC) airport?? Or is it advisable to choose San Fransisco (SFO) airport instead? Please advise.

Pay special attention to anything that looks like non-stop from the west coast to Europe and vice-versa. Many of these flights stop somewhere in the US where you have to change planes and possibly have to go through customs before you get to your destination. Often the planes will use the same number so it will not appear that they are stopping. The information will be in the fine print. This has happened to me several times on flights that looked like they were non-stop.

I wouldn't fly into SFO, if your destination is San Jose.

I'm attending a conference & Expo (AAMI 2008) and on the web page it says SFO is about 36 mile from San Jose. Wouldn't that be convenient travel distance for a drive in a rental car or taxi??
I deally it'is better to land in SJC coz it'll be a 4 mile drive.

No, you won't find any non stop flights from Europe to San Jose California. You can fly into numerous major cities such as Chicago, Houston, Detroit,or Los Angeles etc clear U.S. customs and then continue on with a flight to San Jose. You won't find a lot of non stops to San Francisco either. If you choose to fly non stop to San Francisco, which may be another option then you can take the commuter train to San Jose, or I believe there is an airport connection bus, airport to airport that you can also take. BART does not extend to San Jose yet from the westside of the bay.

Hello,
Ever since American Airlines discontinued their nonstop flights to Asia SJC has become a strictly domestic airport. SFO has plenty of EURO flights with more scheduled in the near future. I'm assuming you will be flying from Saudi Arabia? KLM, British, Air France, Lufthansa would probably be your best choices with nonstops from Europe into SFO. Driving time from SFO to San Jose is about 40 minutes without traffic, you could also take CalTrain from the Millbrae station which is near SFO to San Jose and then a cab to your hotel.

While still on the subject, I just got some friend emailing me an article from the IHT titled:
Trans-Atlantic Flights: Getting to Europe is about to get easier. By Michelle Higgins. It might be of interest to you (more than to me). See the link below: http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/03/25/travel/23pr And thanks againg for the advise with land transport.
