San Francisco Hotel Location
Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 01:25 AM UTC
My wife and I are booked at the EXECUTIVE HOTEL VINTAGE COURT, 650 Bush Street. I stayed there last September with 3 friends, but it was late when we checked in and early when we checked out, so I didnt get too see much of what was around. What can we expect from this location? What is in walking distance?

you are close to union square and downtown and the embarcadero.
also very close to the mark hotel which is nice for a cocktail and good views.
everything is relatively close in SF esp. from where you are. just depends what you want to do.

2 blocks to the south is Union Square, which is now a very upscale shopping area (we were there a couple of years ago at Thanksgiving, and the Christmas stuff was out in full force).

There is a cable car that runs along the street perpendicular to Bush (Powell, perhaps?) that runs up north over whichever hill that is up to the north end of town.

If you head east on Bush a short distance, you will find the French Embassy (I think, not consulate), the local French Catholic church, and a group of French restaurants that are rather a surprise for a corner of San Francisco.

The famous dragon gate marking the south end of Chinatown is at Bush and Grant - about 2 blocks east of your hotel. See the photo at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinatown%2C_San_Francisco%2C_California

So, there's plenty to see just within a short walk...note that heading north is directly uphill ;-)

Hello, I live in the city, did a mapquest to see exactly what corners your hotel is at and you really do have a prime location. You are within walking distance of Chinatown, continue through Chinatown to North Beach (Italian food) Union Square for shopping. Take the cable car over the hill into the water front. Your area is relatively safe, and San Francisco is such a beautiful city to walk around. I suggest you get some good walking shoes and walk a few blocks in any direction, explore the city and enjoy! If there's anything specific you are interested in, feel free to email me.
