| San Francisco | Garmin GPS - TSA Rules Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 12:47 AM UTC
I am traveling from LAS to SFO & want to carry on my Garmin GPS to use in my rental car. Is anyone aware of TSA restrictions regarding this electronic device? It is not like a laptop -- you cannot "turn it on".
Due to the nature of this device, I certainly would not check it because it might "disappear". Any help certainly appreciated. |

I flew from NC to Vegas last September and carried mine on the plane in a backpack. I never had any trouble from the TSA.

Wouldn't be a good idea to ask the car rental companies? If possible send them emails, so if you have their positive answer in writing you shouldn't have any problems.

Since it does not transmit you should be fine.
