Get the Circumvesuviana train from Pompei to Sorrento and then the SITA bus to Positano.

Or if you would prefer, you can get a ferry from Sorrento. A popular way of doing it is to get the bus down and the ferry back, this way you walk down the hills of Positano not up.

The SITA bus to Sorrento leaves outside the Circumvesuviana station in Sorrento, so it is an easy journey from Pompeii. When you come out of the station, go down the stairs to the street, then cross the road and down more steps and the bus leaves from the corner - there is a bus stop with a sign on it, so it's not hard to locate! The bus leaves from a sort of "lower level" of the steet at the station.
