I am going to the tennis from April 21-27, 2008

I am going to be staying in Nice

Can you get a weekly train tickets to and from Nice?

Can you take a bus tour of Monaco?, or take a trip in a boat etc?

Thanks

Via www.voyages-sncf.com I found that the price for a single ticket is between 2.70-3.90. That would mean 38-56 euro for the whole week if you are going every day.

All the different tariffs are explained here but I see no week ticket:

There is a little train on wheels with a recorded commentary that does the Monaco tour. You can pick it up anywhere along the route. You can't miss it as it comes past wherever you are very regularly. It is very inexpensive (6 Euro in 2005) and takes in most of the sights. Monaco of course is very walkable especially up on top where the palace and the cathedral are. I'm sure that there are other tours available as well, but there probably is no need to spend too much money on it as it is such a compact area and is very easily negotiated.

The local bus company will take you to Monaco from Nice and then everything is within walking distance. The local bus trip is a wonderful experience and I recommend it to all visitors--it is also a very cheap way of exploring the area.

In my opinion much better than the train as the bus takes you on the edge of the cliffs with amazing views.

Have fun at the tennis.

That's a great idea! Do you have the website of the local bus company?

You could alternate. The train trip is on average 18 minutes.

The public bus leaves from central bus station in Nice and costs $1.30 euro each way--you travel through Eze--Ville De France--Menton. It is like a mini tour.
Sorry I did'nt put this info in my earlier reply.

Dorrise,
Does the bus many times a day, and how long does it take?

Nice to have a mini tour of France and into Monaco at the same time.

Like ATLC said ' could alternate ' bus and train :) pure magic:):)

From memory it took approx 1 hour I was so caught up with the views etc the time was not a factor for me--the bus train alternative sounds ok too. I believe public transport runs throughout the day for the locals--you could check the times via the Nice public transport department.

The train to the tennis is very convenient as they open a special station for the event right at the tennis club.

If you want a tour of Monaco, go on the little "tourist train" (it's not a train at all it's just painted to look like a train but it drives on the roads), or just walk around - Monaco is very small.
