I might have to overnight in Cancun in few days. I don't want to book a hotel because I won't really know if I need to stay till the day before or so. So if I do, what hotel in the $60 range would be a good bet to walk into. I can do with a shared bath, but not a dorm room. Thanks.

check Kin Mayab. if they don't have space there are other hotels right on the same block. directly across from the bus station

Just checked-out their website. Thank you for the 'fine' advice. I am guessing the bus terminal area has a lot of hotels then, I will find a bed.
(Had a bad experience in San Jose PR a couple of years ago in a similar situation)
