| Fiji | Surf Destination - mid April Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 07:16 AM UTC
Hi all,
Looking for good vibes, waves and economical accomodations for 7 days this April. My buddy and I would like to spend less than $150 USD per day for food & lodging, boat transfers to waves. Can it be done, and where? Looking into Mana islands and Mana Surf services for transport but open to any, all suggestions. Wherever it is, it needs to be a boat ride away from Nadi, no funds for airfare. Thanks in advance for your time! Andrew |

Hi, Have you looked at Namotu or Tavarua islands? I'm not sure how economical they are, but they are advertised as being specifically 'surf' islands, and are in the Mamanuca group. Might be worth a look as they apparently have exclusive rights to some of the best breaks. :)

I surfed all over Fiji a few years back and am going back next week. There are some great places to surf and surf camps everywhere. If you are roughing it, there is an island off of Frigates Passage (forget the name of it) for about $25 a night but it is seriously roughing it. Also, check out Hideaway Hotel (trips to Nomotu and Wilkes). I stayed at Waidroka too, but the guys that owned that place, were from the cornbelt and didn't know jack about surfing, but the Mini-Pipe was like a smaller version of Teahupoo.
I met some Australians, Kiwis and even some Isrealis and split costs with my new friends wereever we went. Easy to do and more fun, with more people. Wishing you the best. Maybe I'll see you in the lineup. Tropixman
