Bali Some days in Bali - Suggestions?
Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 11:13 PM UTC
Hi. This is Miguel from Spain. Me and my boyfriend, together with another friend (a girl) want to spend some days in Bali in August. We will be travelling to Singapore and to Cambodia (to visit Angkor temples), and after that we thought of spending 1 week in Bali. I'd really like to read some suggestions of the VTers, specially regarding itineraries, or whether if we should stay the 7 days at the same place (same hotel) or move around the island. We don't need to take the cheapest options, fortunately we can afford some fine hotels, but the wide selection of different choices is definetly huge!

So ... any suggestions on what (and where) should we do in Bali?

I do suggest you try & see more than one area of Bali. It is very easy to negotiate a driver to take the three of you to other parts of the island & have some stops along the way to enjoy the peace & tranquillity away from the hustle & bustle of the really busy tourist areas. Stay the first night & last night in the south either Kuta, Sanur or Nusa Dua as they are well placed for the airport. I like Lovina situated in the very North . We stayed at Rambutan Boutique Hotel in their Raja Villa devine!! I still want to get to Amed as that is supposed to have great snorkelling. I like the look of Anda Amed Resort. Other places worth a stay are Ubud, Candi Dasa , Padangbai, and Pacung Indah. Your 7 days in paradise will go very fast. enjoy Sandra

Firstly, what do the three of you like to do. Are you interested in culture, shopping, history, art galleries, bars, clubs, restaurants, diving, snorkelling. That will give me a better indication of what to recommend for your trip.

Better for you to stay in ubud which located in the center of Bali.
Will be easy to you to visit other place in Bali.
Easy to organize tour around bali since many people doing.
You can visit tample such as Gunung Kawi tample, Tirta Empul tample, Batur tample and also Batur volcano, Jatiluwih village (the biggest rice terrace in Bali), Sekumpul water fall in Singaraja also do rafting, cycling, etc.
All you can do if you staying in Ubud.
Here some driver contact:
Nyoman Kelid: 08123941064
Komang wedana: 081338588305
Gede Panca: 08179755008

Hi,
I've been to Bali already 3 times and would highly agree to nezz's proposal !
Stayin in Ubud may be nice for a short period, but a stay without beach is not, what everybody likes, although Ubud's luxury- and boutique-hotels are excellent!
Following nezz's itinerary will show you Bali's best !
Have fun!

When I was in Bali I stayed in Kuta for 5 days and Ubud for 5 days. Choosing two points, one at the beach and another at the interior you can cover all Bali doing day trips and returning to the hotel at the same day instead of changing hotels everyday. Bali is not a big island and if you hire a driver you can do it very easy and very fast without loosing time with traffic and roads.
Ubud is fantastic and you can find excelent and luxury resorts but is also so good to wake up in the morning and go to the beach in front of your hotel.
In Kuta we stayed at Kumala Pantai, a big hotel, cheap, clean with an imense swimming pool and next to the most famous night club in Bali, the Double Six (66), and you can go walking.the hotel is very calm, no noisy and you cant hear the 66 when sleeping.
Ubud you can find a lot of great resorts, just look for and you will find what you want.
If you hire a driver in Bali, they usualy charges you around U$30 or U$35 a day, but we hired one that made our travel an AMAZING travel, he did the difference. Very polite, good english, excelent car and with an imense culture about Bali history and culture. We covered all Bali with him, and nothing passed trough us without an explanation. He is very recomended in all foruns but you have to contact him in advance cause he is always full of clients. He will charge you U$40 but its a worth payament. His name is Dean and you can see all his contacts at my Bali page where you will also find many tips about what to do and see in Bali.
Good trip !!!
If sometimes you intends to visit Brazil, dont forget to contact me, I live in Rio a wonderfull city.
Be welcome.

Hi,

If you want to explore the different scene of Bali, it is really fabulous to have a trip around the islan of Bali where you can make sucha wonderful tour over the central, north and even west and east Bali. There are so much to explore a part from the busy southern part of Bali which is more commercial. The area further north and central of Bali offering you the real scene and life of the people. I am sure that you are going to discover a different Bali with the trip around. It is also save you much time commuting from one area.

Please email me if you want to get more idea and suggestion.

Saludos
