| Las Vegas | Hotel between Phoenix and Vegas Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 03:05 PM UTC
I'm planning a big 2 week hiking/driving trip in June starting and ending in vegas. Need a nice relaxing hotel on my day off hiking/driving. Needs to be somewhere between Phoenix and Vegas (maybe near mohave?). Ideally somewhere in the middle of the desert where I can just get away from everything! Anyone have any ideas?

If you mean the town of Mojave then that is way out of your way and not a place I would spend the night. Somewhere between Phoenix and Las Vegas might be around Lake Havasu City, assuming you are talking a mostly direct route between the two.

If you really want to get away from everything then head to the Bar S Cattle & Guest Ranch in Wikieup, Arizona. Right off the State Highway 93, halfway between Phoenix and Las Vegas. This is about as quiet and relaxing one can be in the old cowboy way. See their website for rooms. http://www.barsranch.com/lodging.htm
I believe there is also a motel in town, Wikieup Trading Post Motel and a western food stop, Joe's Barbecue. There are a couple of trails to take in the area that might be of interest to you. See the website and in search window put Wikieup, Arizona. www.trails.com
