| Zagreb | Kras Chocolates... Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 10:59 AM UTC
Does anyone know if Kras sells online? It's come with a high recommendation and I'd like to try--short of a trip!
Thanks! |

I used to like them as a kid, especially a plain chocolate "Runolist" but lately when compared to other chocolates they are very average; either they changed the recipe or my childhood nostalgia embelishes. But, as it was mentioned above, Bajadera chocolates (well, that's more in the praline chategory than pure chocolate - lots of nougat) is still as good as it always was and I personally still love it. Definitely their best product as far as I'm concerned and I've eaten a lot of chocolate in my life (Kraš and others).

You can buy their produce online on www.amazon.com. Beside Bajadera mentioned in previous posts, which is a sort of a souvenir (as it's an original Croatian produce) I'd recommend Kras 1911 chocolates. Sort of an "exclusive" produce of a very good quality. Few different flavors. Also, their cookies named Finesa cookies are really good. For more info you can check www.kras.hr.

I was looking at Kras and I am surprised, they have the Griotte variety.
We have either that (probably) or the Stollwerk's Konyakmeggy in the States but usually it's said "made in Europe" and there is very little ad here because... alcohol inside of candy is considered a controversal topic in the States somehow, a relic of prohibition era. Most groceries won't have it because of that, only Trader's Joe has but it's under their own label. Next time I will pay attention, is it "Hungary" (Stollwerk) or "Croatia" (Kras) or ...?
