Hello, We will leaving Munich by train to Frankfurt International Airport. As w e have one last night, can we go directly from Munich to Mainz instead of Munich to Frankfurt and then Mainz. How lon gwill the journey take?

Yes you can. Takes 5 - 6 hours, depending on train.

Don't know....you'll have to check it out on the bahn.de website.
Seems there are several ways to get from Munich to Mainz (including via Frankfurt). The date/time I've just put in suggest 3-4 hours, which is more reasonable. You have to change trains at least once on all routes, I think. Maybe the first check I did was (inadvertantly) for a Sunday, and that's why it gave longer journey times?
