| Santiago | The Mountains Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 12:47 AM UTC
Hi,
I'm travelling to Santiago, on April, and I'm planning on visiting Farellones, La Parva, El Colorado and Valle Nevado on a tour. I would really like to see the mountains, and I don't have much time to travel far from Santiago. Is it ok to go to those places in this time of the year, or there are better places to go? Thanks! |

Only go if you like out of season ski resorts. Portillo is interesting all year round, but the others offer little out of season. The Cajón del Maipo just to the south of Santiago is more interesting.

I don't know the places you mentioned, but we really liked Cajon del Maipo.
It is a valley, very close to Santiago, which goes deep into the Andes Mountains and offers great mountain scenery. We made it (by rental car) till Banos Morales. Se for more info: http://members.virtualtourist.com/vt/tfr/1/890/4/1838fb/ happy travels Jaap
