I need to get from Stonehill College which is Easton MA to basically downtown Boston. Is there public transportation in Easton? Should I ride the commuter train into a town on the outskirts of the city. I have a car, but I don't really like driving in huge cities.

I guess my question is this: how far around Boston does the public transportation go?

There is a commuter rail that goes in the general vicinity of Stonehill, but wasn't sure whether or not there's a stop anywhere near close to it. I checked Stonehill's website and they don't even mention public transportation, which would leave me to believe that it is probably not viable from there.

So, that leaves you or three options, I guess. Either drive to the Commuter rail station closest to Stonehill and park there (hopefully), or ditto for the nearest subway station or drive into Boston itself. I know you're not thrilled with the last option, although we could give you directions to hopefully minimize your pain. Let us know if you would like that. Meanwhile, what I would do if I were you, is call the college and get directions and distance for the first to options and ask them specifically if parking will be a problem at either place. The subway you'd likely have to drive a little further, but it would present so much more flexibility for you in terms of schedule and destination.

Sorry I can't be more help at the moment.

Thanks for both the replies. I spent some time researching and I am actually going to take the commuter rail from Brockton into Boston and then ride the subway.

Thanks for your help, I love Virtual Tourist!
