Cancún Travel Forum

I originally booked a trip to Cancun with a friend, but they backed out at the last minute. So I booked the trip anyhow, just me. I don't mind going alone, but it would be nice to have a few people to hang out with when I get there. It really sucks eating alone.
I want to go out to the bars and clubs, a little site seeing, water sports, horse back riding on the beach, parties, anything fun.
I'll be there May 16 thru May 25. If anyone's interested in meeting up just let me know, and I'll tell you which resort I'm staying at. Also, if anyone has any suggestions or opinions about Cancun please let me know, this will be my first trip there, and I want to have a great time.

Sorry...I won't be traveling to cancun this spring but I did go last summer and had a blast! For sightseeing you definitely need to visit the ruins of Tulum the beach there is AMAZING!!!! I didn't do a lot of clubbing while there but I would highly suggest you go to CoCo Bongo! that is a great hot spot.

It don't matter. You will have a great time. Day trips to the ruins, then at night play it safe & have a good time at the hotel bar or go clubbing on the strip or go clubbing downtown ( usually not for the 1st timer )check out http://www.cancunmx.com/beachpics.htm for current beach conditions for each hotel. There has been somewhat bad erosion in places since the replenishment after Hurricane Wilma. Check out VT sites for even more info.

What hotel are you staying at? I have stayed at Gran Caribe Real and it was GREAT.

I'm staying at the "Grand Oasis Playa" an all-inclusive resort. Read lots of review's, some good some bad, but at least it's an adult only resort. Not really my first choice, but they had the best deal for a single person.
Planning on going to Coco Bongo, but I don't want to go to the same place night after night. Any other good bars? I don't really care for the big dance clubs, I can just stay in Atlanta for that. What time do the bars there close, and will I be able to catch a bus back to the resort after the bars close? I also want to do some sight seeing during the day, but which ones are the best?

You are right on the strip so you should have no trouble getting back by bus.
Beach looks good. Full day - Chichen Itza tour - Talum/Xel Ha tour - Coba jungle tour - take the bus to Playa del Carmen - bus boat to Isla Mujeres. 1/2 day tours - snorkling. horseback riding, on the beach - parasailing, speedboat and "death on the water" jet ski's. Just keep in mind in Mexico "you break it you pay for it" and safety has improved over the last few years but you need to check your equipement yourself & speak up if something is wrong. You will probably meet a bunch of people there.
