Well, I suppose a kid as young as that is interested in the same things abroad as at home. Go find a zoo, take a boatride, go for an easy walk in the mountains with the kid in a stroller or something like that. You could try to find some locations at myswitzerland.com
How about a toy museum? Info at museedujeu.com Most of all, just have fun together, and try to retain a bit of the rhythm the child is used to, it will benefit you both.

Vevey might be home to Nestle's global HQ, but the toddler will hardly be moved by this fact.

With such a young child, I think it hardly matters where you take it. I'd do the things you as parents would like to do. And as a previous reply said: try to keep to the child's day rythm.

Boat trips, Chateau de Chillion, market in the square in Vevey, swimming pool on the way to Montreaux. Train trip from Montreaux up the mountain. Maybe some skiing, couple of pistes above Vevey in the Valle de Villion if there's still snow, if flowers are out then it's full of narcissus. Several farms up there also to look at the animals.
