| Stockholm | Stockholm in May for a day Posted: Sat March 22, 2008 01:22 PM UTC
Hello There,
This will be our last stop (cruising) before we head back to London and then on to Canada. We would like to do our own sightseeing. It will have to be in 5 to 6 hours including stopping to have something to eat. Any help to do and see in Stockholm would be great. Would this be cheaper than going on excursion and booking with the cruise line? Thanks. |

I thought the Vasa Museum was one of the best things I have seen anywhere and that is quite a big thing to say.
This ship set sail in 1628 and due to poor design sunk before it could leave the harbour. You are able to walk all round it in a specially constructed building and it is breathtaking. Quite honestly I would skip the food -expensive and mediocre. Have a snack and see this ship.

I agree on the Vasa. You will also be within walking distance of the Palace so you can walk through it and/or pay for a tour directly. We enjoyed just walking around the Old City area and looking at the buildings. While I found most of the food in Stockholm just "so-so" there were some fun street cafes in the Old City that had decent food and great for people watching. I wouldn't do a ship tour.
