the copenhagen city center is very compact and easy to walk in a day.
copenhagen has the longest pedestrian street in the world and that should be a good place to shop. this street is also close to most of the main sights. it starts at copenhagen main square and finishes by "nyhavn", the former trading harbour which is now a place full of restaurants and cafes.

Currency is Danish Krone
CopenHagen is the ideal port of call for doing your own tour. Your ship will dock in the harbour from where it is a very easy and pleasant walk into the town centre. You should have a street plan to get the most out of your visit. As you walk away from the ship look across the water and you will see the new Opera House. Further along you could come to the Little mermaid but there will probably be too many people around to see the statue properly or even to take a photograph. In Town walk down Nyhavn alongside the canal ( boat tour leave from here) the street is lined with restaurants , shops and hotels in the familiar architecture of the Baltic cities. At Amalienborg Slot, the Royal Palace, the changing of the Guard takes place every day at noon. The main shopping street is Stroget where you can but anything from tourist tat to designer clothes and jewellery. If it should be wet you might like a Museum the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek has a great collection of impressionist paintings and sculpture. In the large Square - Kongens Nytorv sit and have a coffee opposite the Royal THeatre and former Opera House. It is close to shops and Banks. At the Radhus -Town Hall you can have a guided Tour of the building and get to the top of the tower. There is much more but as you have not said how long you will have I'll leave it there - it's good to just wander and absorb the atmosphere!

Hi there, Copenhagen is the most beautiful city and you will wish you could stay longer than 1 day. Must see The Little Mermaid statue (and the walk to it passes many great churches and scenery), The Round Tower is a good (if strenuous) climb with some lovely views from the top, Lunch at one of the great restaurants in Nyhavn is a must and my absolute favourite visit in Copenhagen was The National Museum - it is one of the most user friendly museums I have ever been to. Enjoy, I'm hoping to go back soon myself :o)
