Bahrain Fishing spots in Bahrain
Posted: Sat March 22, 2008 01:10 PM UTC
Hello Friends
I am an expat in Bahrain with interest in fishing (angling).
Could anyone tell me which are the best fishing spots available in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
I was told that Sitra Bridge is the most popular spot. But with the construction going on, its quite dusty a spot and the hustle bustle around seem to have driven the fish away.

If there are any fellow anglers reading this forum, could you also tel me which are the best bait options for fishing in Bahrain.

The problem is that there are not many nice spots to go fishing... I have avoided the eastern side for environmental reasons (smelter, port, power station) and do not find the Sitra bridge a relaxing enough spot for fishing. (I have not tried it yet.)
I went to the sailing club in the South, but it is not ideal. There is also a spot just north of the causeway bridge.
I had good success with shrimp (needle fish, safi etc.), pieces of octopus, but also with artificial flies, especially at dusk.
I will go on a boat tour next week to check on the bigger fish.
Wish me luck....

Hello there
I am a Brit Engineer just moved in to Seef district and am a devoted shorefisherman with metal lures. I have had limited success in Yanbu Saudi and Assaluyeh Iran, usually small barracuda and golden trevally and now am looking around for casting waters at least a meter deep without the need for climbing over rocks-too old!. I have just found one so far under the Muharraq southern bridge and been turned away by the coast guard. There is a vast length off the rocks on the causeway from Mina Salman to the port with one casting spot and have seen about about five shoals of fry but nothing making them jump. It looks like I might have to fish with the raw prawns that I have just frozen. There is a long causeway off the easrtercornish at Hoorah that I may try tomorrow as it is the only daylight I will see for another week or so. I would like to get in touch and swap some info with other shore fisherman. If interested please post me or give me Terry a ring on 3913 6584

Thanks mate.. All the best for your boat trip... Share the details of the catch and the bait that was effective.

By the way.. I had posted that query sometime back. Off late I have picked up a spot near Hidd near a line of private jetties... Catch has been manly bream, French ladyfish and at times needle fish too. Most effective bait has been squid so far. I havent had much luck with artificial lures ( soft shags). I do not have any experience using flies.

Good Luck once again
