Province of British Columbia Day Hike
Posted: Sat March 22, 2008 05:41 AM UTC
Hello all.

I'm planning to spend a few days in Vancouver at the end of June. I wanted to do some (day) hiking in the West and/or North Vancouver area. I'm primarily looking for easy to intermediate trails that aren't popular tourist spots. After a busy work and school year, I just need to get away.:o)[I know, I know, i'm going at one of the busiest times of the year, but i'm scheduling this vacation along with my friend's wedding in Washington] .;)

The Baden Powell trail is a nice hike. One option, You can start on Millstream Rd. and hike about a 10 mile route back to the other side of Millstream Rd about 2 blocks from the start. Have a look at 1136, the house I grew up in, actually it was razed fo a new version. West Lake, Lost Lake and some nice views of Brothers Creek.
The Grouse Grind can be easy if you don't race. Beware others do race so keep to the right.
Cypress Bowl has some nice day hikes on their Cross Country trails. A nice option is light walk to Hollyburn Lodge for lunch or dinner. Sundown will be about 9pm

Thanks all!

These are some really good ideas! Also one last question...are there some areas around the general vicinity with decent motel/hotel prices? I did some quick checks, but everything looks pricey.

Thanks

What is considered resonable. The end of June is the peak season. $150 or 75? I would think a hostel or B&B is tho only option under $150 in town. Near the airport would be $99-140. The North Shore by the mountains would be $125-150
