Bergamo Travel Forum

Hi can anyone help me please, we are wondering if it is suitable to stay in Bergamo and find it easy to get to Monza for the Itallian Grand Prix in September. Any information which anybody has or recommendations for Hotels etc we will really appreciate. Kind regards Colette.P.s or is it better to stay more central in Milan we are flying into Bergamo thanks again.

I would stay in Bergamo, but I must admit I am biased, since Bergamo is my city.
You can reach Monza from Bergamo both by car or by train, perhaps by bus also but I've never done it.
By car, if you'll have the chance, should be faster but you may have the problem of the parking, they told me Monza is crowded for the Grand Prix.
By train it should take 40 minutes or something like that, directly from Bergamo train station to Monza train station. It's not a very fast route, but if you're not in a hurry it's ok. That train passes on a quite high steel bridge over Adda river, I think it's a nice view.
If you haven't done it yet, have a look at the VT pages about Bergamo, I think you can spend a some nice days here! (and eventually, maybe, you'll forget the Grand Prix even)

Thank you very much we have made our minds up we will stay in Bergamo it sounds lovely luckily we are coming for 6 days so 2 days for grand prix and the other 4 for exploring. I think we will use trains to get to Monza and hire a car for the other days. Thanks again and i'm guessing you dont like Grand prix haha.

It's a very good idea to hire a car for the other days, I hope to see your tips, opinion and pictures about Bergamo!

If you haven't booked a hotel yet, have a look here. I would suggest a B&B, you can find very nice ones in Cittą alta.
