Is this hostel safe and has anybody ever stayed there?

It is a very safe location, and by the way, it is in a primo location near the ocean, and in the pedestrian shopping area of 3rd street promenade. It has to be one of the best locations possible, and it's quite amazing that there is a hostel there! I always highly recommend it though I have never stayed there...You would be WELL advised to take a room there if you can get it!

I've never stayed there but I know it's in a very safe area and I always see smiling, happy travelers coming in and out of there doors. Also check out the hostel in Venice (the one near the beach not the one on Lincoln.)

Etoile is right!

The hostel in Venice is in a sort of sketchy area. Dicey at night. Santa Monica HI is in a great location! You can walk to tons of restaurants, shops, beach etc.

Basically it's the Venice Boardwalk vs. Third Street Promenade....so a matter of choice.
