| Boston | Boston Accomodation Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 11:38 PM UTC
On my trip to the States I'm dropping in on Boston first (Boston-NYC-Chicago-San Francisco-Las Vegas)
It is proving THE most difficult location to find a hotel which suits my needs. Key to it all is location, I won't be driving so I'll be relying on Public Transport and walking around sightseeing. The hotel has to have an internet connection available - preferably wi-fi. The budget isn't strict but preferably around $200 per night. Currently looking at these: Bulfinch Hotel at 107 Merrimac Street http://www.bulfinchhotel.com And Double Tree Guest Suites Boston at 400 Soldiers Field Road http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US/dt/hotel/BOSSB The Bulfinch looks to be in a much better location but is around 490 more per night than the Double Tree Guest Suites - and the room is much smaller. Any assistance, other hotel option etc...would be greatly appreciated. |

Boston's pretty good!
Here's a good one I've stayed at: Doubletree Hotel Boston - Downtown 821 Washington Street, Boston, Massachusetts, United States 02111 Tel: 1-617-956-7900 Fax: 1-617-956-7901 ... this is the least fancy of the hotels, but the rooms are clean and transportation is great. You can reach this from the airport by transfering to the Orange Line (from the airport line) and getting off at the Medical Center metro stop. As you get out of the metro turn right and the hotel is within 1/2 block. The area is not the most beautiful, but I'm a woman traveling alone and have been fine there. There are chinese restaurants around. Being right next to the Orange Line makes it very covenient to all transportation. I've also stayed at The Boston Marriott Longwharf296 State Street Boston, Massachusetts 02109 USA Phone: 1-617-227-0800 Fax: 1-617-227-2867 Nice part about this one is that it is by the Bay and you can walk to the Freedom trail and many other places, but it will set you back a little more than the $200, although they have some rooms starting at $229. Also like the hotels in Copley Square - you can walk to many good restaurants from there. There is a famous street but the name escapes me, but it's only a couple of blocks from the Marriott and the Hilton that are by Copley. Typhoon Restaurant (asian fusion) makes an awesome salmon with ginger ... hmmmm! although it's not the best in Boston. Prefer the Marriott to the Hilton by Copley, although the Marriott is more expensive. The small streets by the Hilton are a bit seedy at night ... fortunately it was three of us coming back from work, but two guys approached us that really looked like they were giving up because it was too many of us ... a bit of a bad experience there.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately the Boston Marriott Long Wharf is WAY over the budget for my travel dates - 7th through 11th July. The Doubletree Hotel Boston - Downtown looks like it's winning thus far. Best price room is $242 Per night though, so I'm not set on it yet. Sincere thanks for your efforts.

You could try the Best Westerns, www.bestwestern.com. Usually either Boston or the town of Cambridge (this is where M.I.T is) would have good transportation, so you could stay either place. Actually Cambridge is a pretty nice college town and you take the metro across the river back to the city. Have not stayed in any of those but these are usually OK.
All the best!

Try the Holiday Inn Beacon Hill. That is in a good location, handy to the Freedom Trail, North End, etc., and should come in at or below your price target. I haven't checked internet availability, but i'm presuming it does.

I certainly appreciate all the help.
I received an e-mail today telling me to check out http://www.thecharlesmark.com/ this hotel. I like the look of this place and the trip advisor reviews are generally in favour of it, so looks like I'm set.

Hi,
My friend used expedia or orbitz I think and found the Club Quarters hotel. You can only book from one of these sites. It's on Devonshire between Downtown crossing and State street (I think). I think she said that it was only a 5 min walk to either station. good luck!
