| Valencia | Valencia in August Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 01:55 PM UTC
Hi there,
Me and 3 friends are staying in Valencia for a week in August. We've hired an apartment in Calle de Emilio Baro. First off, anyone know what the area is like and if it is easy to get to the centre and nightlife and beaches from there? Then I've got a few more questions for you guys (hope you can help, been googling for ages but not very useful tbh): - What are the prices like at restaurants? I like eating out as much as I can, but being a student my cashflow doesn't always allow it! And are the drinks in clubs etc expensive? - We are there from 7-14 August, is there any chance at all Valencia FC might be playing pre-season games by then or maybe even be able to attend a training session? - Is there a strip club (not been able to find anything about that anywhere on t'internet!)? - What are the prices of alcoholic drinks (I know cigarettes are cheap), is it cheap or will it be a good idea to buy a few bottles from the airport tax-free? example: litre bottle of Jagermesiter in Holland costs about 20 euro's I think...I've heard Spain is quite cheap for stuff like alcohol but would want to know for sure! Thanks in advance, Tom |

I think you will find it quite a convenient area. It's close to the University and the Stadium, parks and tree lined streets; about 10 minutes walk to the beaches and maybe a bit less into the centre of Valencia. The walk to the beach will take you along the road that borders the very flat, fertile fields behind the beaches.
If you enter the apartment address in Google Earth you will get some idea of the area. You will find plenty of restaurants of all kinds catering for all budgets. The mid-day menu del dia is a good value meal at most places if you want to fill up a bit. Sorry can't help with drinks ( wine drinker ) nor strip clubs. The website below might have football fixtures http://www.valenciafc.co.uk/default.html Have fun!

See my Valencia pages for tips on the restaurant. We found a great tapas place where tapas were for 1E and 1.50E After few tapas and few canas (1E-cana) you are really full. And choice of food is really big.
