| Oslo Region | Hotel Oslo/Connection to Tautra Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 10:06 AM UTC
Hi guys,
I do a short trip to Oslo pretty soon. Does anybody have a good idea for a reasonable prized hotel there? Maybe also a nice hostel might be fine. Maybe I also visit the Island Tautra in the Tondheimfjords. Unfortunately I really do not have much time for this. What would be the best/fast option to get there? Is there just the option flying to Trondheim/ferry/train(?) or might it also be possible to use a train? Thank you so much for your help, Chris |

When we stayed in Oslo we booked at the Hotel Perminalen. This is a hostel that also caters to the norwegian military as a guesthouse. It's very centrally located and reasonably priced.
For more info have a look at the accommodation tip on my Oslo-page: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/44143/3462a/3/

There aren't any ferries (!) from Oslo to Trondheim, and if there were it would take quite a while (they'd have to go all along the western coast of the country)! Train Oslo - Trondheim takes ca 7 hours, see www.nsb.no
The fastest option would, of course, be to fly - see www.sas.no and www.norwegian.no (Norwegian is almost always cheaper than SAS)

I am just home from Oslo. I had two descent accommodations: an appartment in Frogner Plass that was really really cool. It was just in front of a tram stop, meaning, if you have a lot of things with you, you won't have a hard time carrying them up to the appartment. I paid a low price of NOK 700, but it was per room, with kitchenette, massage shower, etc.etc.
See website: http://www.nyborg.no/5.html The other one was in Cochs Pensjonat. This one is about location, location, location! It is nearby a lot of major attractions. Everything in walking distance---National Theater, The Royal Palace, Slottsparken, the Harbor, Aker Brygge, Nobel Peace Prize Center, Town Hall, etc. There are also a lot of good restaurants to go to in this area. Convenient stores are scattered around. I find this place safe so far. The rooms are of descent size, with flat screen tv, good size bath, etc. I paid NOK 720. Rooms without baths/toilet (bath and toilet in the corridor) costs around NOK 680. Again, this is for a two person accommodation. FOR SINGLE OCCUPANCY: NOK 440 (toilet and bath in the corridor) NOK 540 with toilet and bath and tea making facilities and tv NOK 590 with toilet, bath, tv and kitchenette Website: http://www.cochspensjonat.no/englishindex.html Very very clean accommodation. For a more modest accommodation, the Anker HOstel seems to be famous. It is centrally located and has a bus stop in front of its hostel. Double and Single occupancy costs around NOK 545 Website: http://www.ankerhostel.no/default.asp?id=1101&lang=44 Have fun in Norway!

Anker hostel is cheep (for norway) clean and modern. FLying or train is best option Trondheim- Oslo. Many cheep flights at moment. check out www.nsb.no (trains) and www.restplass.no , www.norwegian.no , www.sas.no for cheep flights.
Welcome... :-)
