There is a bus service to Varadero from Havana. it is the cheapest and convenient way of getting there. it is only 10 cuc one way. and the trip is three hours long. there are two departures one at 8 am and the other at 12 noon. comfortable buses and nice staff. www.viazul.cu you can even book on line.Viazul is mainly for the tourists to the island.

Hello, yes, ViaAzul is the best (and almost the only) reliable bus company that gets U to almost any of the touristic places in Cuba. There are 3h on the road from Havana to Varadero if U go in Bus, the price is around 10-12 CUC. U could go in taxi also but look to share the ride with someone else as it can be expensive, expect to pay around 40cuc, the difference is that U'll be in Varadero in half the time that in the bus.

One more advice, U haven't asked but nevertheless I'll tell U something else. I read that U plan to stay 3 days in Havana and 10 in Varadero. Are U aware that Varadero is a very very touristic place, just tourists, hotels and beachs? No reall cuba to look there. If U're looking for relax in the beach and stay away from the crowd then maybe it could be your place but if not then I'll recomend U to stay maybe only 5 days in Varadero and then spend 2-3 days in Trinidad, 2 more days in Viņales and then back to Havana to take your flight to Dublin.

Good luck and have fun!

I can recommend the Hershey train to Manzanas, then by bus (or taxi)to Varadero, but I can't remember the costs. The train is a real cuban experience, you go across Havana harbour on the ferry to Casa blanca station, then take the train from there. You can see the train journey on youtube.

Oh, and take lunch at the florida hotel in old Havana...the food was good there.

Have a good trip!

Saludos y suerte, te encantara esa isla bonita.

Daymaris says; The best way to gey to Varadero is by bus. The bus line is Via Azul and costs 10 Convertibles (CUC), which is the tourist money and for 2CUC more it takes you to your hotel or the place where you want to stay. The central bus station is at the corner of 'Calle 26 y Zoologico' streets or besides you can take the bus from the central bus station of the 'Astro' line in Havana. Best wishes and luck. You'll love this beautiful island.

I can second that!
