Zanzibar Island zanzibar advice

Hi,

I am hoping to travel to Zanzibar from the UAE towards the end of June. Firstly is it safe for a young Brit woman travelling alone?

Secondly where is the best place or places to stay. I want a beach holiday, to chill out but also with some opportunities to meet people to have fun with. I would also like to explore a little & see something of the island.

Any tips & advice very much appreciated.
Cheers

Thanks for the info. I now may have a mate convinced she needs a trip to Zanzibar. She is a wildlife buff - what is the diving like (is it expensive)& what kind of wildlife is there on the island?

Lovely, Thanks

Hi to all !
I plan a trip there in June, abd got some questions :
1-Are the tides a big issue at Jambiani ?
2-is there however any possibilities to swim around without caring about tides ? How many meters shall we walk until we can swim, when low tides ? Where are the swimming beaches at low tides in Zanzibar ?
3- is it possible to snorkel and see corals from the beach or shall we absolutely take a dow ?
4- Is there any possibility to dive/snorkel west side of Pemba ?
5- What about June for swimming and snorkelling (water visibility and temperature, etc..)
Thank you for your help !

Hi Guido,

Please have a look at my Jambiani and Zanzibar Island Pages here:

I have tips that can answer most of your questions. You can also save any you like as well.

You do not have to worry about the tides. Please have a look at my pictures. The coral reef protects the beaches and the high tide is very mild. However the water is cloudy. Dhows can be an issue. Some locals can take you out in a boat with a motor to ensure you get what you want, can return and you won’t get stuck at sea. Please watch out for sharp shells in low tide. You need shoes and/or boots. I hope you have a great time. Jambiani is very friendly.

If you have any other questions, I am happy to help.

All the best,

DAO
