| Sofia | Patriarch's Residence? Posted: Tue March 18, 2008 08:36 PM UTC
Hi,
I was wondering if the yellow building that you posted 2 photos of was indeed the bulgarian orthodox patriarch's residence? I have a photo of a yellow building in Sofia, from the back, and I am trying to identify it. It looks a lot like the photos you posted. Thanks |

I didn't look at your picture but I imagine it is the Holy Synod opposite the Nevsky Cathedral and across the street from the Basilica of Sr. Sophia. The Synod (all the bishops of the Bulgarian Church) meets there and there are rooms for the visitors from the other cities of Bulgaria. Patriarch Maxim lives in the Sofia Metropolia on Tsar Kaloyan as does Ioan, the Episcopal Vicar of Sofia. Maxim also used to stay at one of the suburban monasteries (Dragolevski, as I recall) but now is too old and not well enough to do so.
