I have a day in Cork, but it's a Sunday. What's open for a pub lunch, perhaps with music?

Can't remember the name of the pub but we had a great time one Sunday at a pub in Oliver Plunkett St. - how can you forget that name? From memory there were quite a few pubs along the street which did have local music.

I've just checked the listings in this month's Whazon.

Seems like some pubs do lunch on Sunday, some do music but I didn't spot any which claimed to do both.

Charlie's Bar in Union Quay, is a very traditional Cork bar and they are open from 12.30 on Sunday and have a live music session that starts at 3.00. But they don't mention food. Counihans, on Pembroke Street ( near the GPO ) is another great pub and they also have live music every Sunday from 12 noon.

I'll make some enquiries and get back to you but you can check all the listings for Cork in April, on www.whazon.com .

If it's a nice day maybe you could get out of town to Kinsale, Blarney or Cobh. Fitzgralds Park and the UCC Campus would be good for a walk but Sunday isn't the best day of the week as most things, like the public museum and Art Gallery are closed.

I hope you enjoy your day in Cork:))

You could always have lunch first in one of Cork's great restaurants and then hit the pub.

Thanks for the information. We'll be docking in Cobh, and will walk through the town. We plan to take the train from Cobh to Cork. We hae a long day (9:00 to 19:00), and hope to get around both places.
