| Boston | Boston Red Sox ( excuse the postus prematus) Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 10:36 PM UTC
We will be visiting Boston the first second week of June and thought a Red Sox game would be in order.
Not knowing much about Red sox or the stadium please advise - where should be sit to feel part of the action ?( neither of us would be capable of catching fly balls but we like hot dogs and beer) Where should we buy tickets? ( I saw a site called tickets america- is that the place? Would you go to a afternoon or evening game? We are staying in beacon Hill area ( Liberty Hotel) so what is the best transport options Do you think the Red Sox Mariners game would be good and will we be killed if we route for Mariners ( being from Vancouver is seems the right thing to do - to support our fellow West Coast brethren) Also -- are ther any recomended walking tours of Boston ( not 30 people and a guy with a umbrella sticking in the air to follow) |

For the best experience ever, I would recommend sitting in the bleachers. This is where the diehard, blue-collar fans can be found. I assure you an experience in the bleachers-whether during a day or night game-will be unforgettable. Don’t worry about the fly balls as an attempt to catch one would be met with severe competition, which could result in an injury to your person. Like most ballparks, but especially at Fenway, you won’t have to worry about the long lines at the concession stands. There are numerous vendors walking around the ballpark selling beer & Franks. If I had the choice, I would go to en evening game. Personally speaking, the night games were always a bit more mystical to me while growing up. I would take the trolley or train. With a taxi you run the possibility of hitting severe traffic & missing some of the game or being ripped off. Both the trolley & train are very reliable. I’m sure there is an entrance by the hotel. If not, the hotel will get you there. The Liberty Hotel is a fine choice if I do say so myself. Any Red Sox game will be phenomenal, but I would urge you not to cheer for the Mariners or wear any of their shirts or sport any form of their sport memorabilia. Although Fenway Park is no longer the same ballpark of the 1980s, you will more than likely run into a few hostile fans. There are numerous walking tours to enjoy. Here are just a few.
1. Irish Heritage Trail 2. African-American Heritage Trail 3. Historic Walking Tour I hope this helps.

Hi!
I'd suggest getting Red Sox tickets as soon as possible, like now, because the games sell out fast. The best place to get tickets is http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=bos I think a Mariners game would be great, especially because between the two teams you have two of the biggest Japanese baseball stars in the country; Ichiro and Matsuzaka. I think it will be a lot of fun!

Hi,
I would suggest an afternoon game. You're tourists and the atmosphere outside Fenway Park before a day game is AWESOME! Night time is great too, but you can't people watch as much at night. Once your inside and see Fenway for the first time, you'll be blown away. Forget the Red Sox website for tickets, the entire year is sold out except for standing room only. The two most popular sites for Sox tickets are: www.stubhub.com www.aceticket.com Take the subway across from your hotel to Kenmore for the game.

You are likely out of luck buying tickets at or near their face value - I have found it very easy to get tickets from scalpers in front of the stadium but that will depend on the quality of both clubs at that point in the season. I would suggest a night game because you can get to Fenway earlier in the day to soak up the atmosphere around the park. Go to the Cask and Flagon for a drink and enjoy the fans arriving. Anywhere in Fenway is a great seat - ticket prices are pretty high so don't freak out - it will be worth the experience!

We have tickets over first base for a Saturday afternoon game. Got them through Ace tickets (recomended by one of the posters)!
Can't wait!. Paid a bundle but its worth the experiance. Have decided based on postings that we will cheer only for the Red sox despite our western roots. Thanks for all the help

Congratulations! I highly recommend cheering for the Red Sox at Fenway--it's the safest option. :) Also don't forget to try a cup of Legal Seafoods clam chowder at the park! mmmm.
