| Banff | New to skiing..and Banff Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 09:35 PM UTC
Hi All,
I am heading out to Banff next week (26th March) for two weeks skiing. Apologies for the typical girly post - but its my first time skiing and whilst i've finally got all my ski gear sorted - i've no idea what people generally wear when going out in the evenings. I imagine its fairly casual - girls wearing jeans and snow boots?? Just wasnt sure if people dressed up at all for the clubs/bars? Do girls wear ugg boots/timberlands to clubs/bars? Or something smarter? Also do most people just wear their ski jacket out in the evenings, or everyday coats? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks. K |

Yes everyone wears ugg or timberland all of a sudden here in Canada, so you will not look out of place at all in Banff.
I wouldn't worry about getting to dressy in the evening, unless you are going to a totally fancy dinner or a big club in Calgary. Your ski jacket will be fine, day and night there. Sure the non-sporty women visiting the area may be in fur coats and high heeled boots, but the locals mostly wear hiking/boading attire. So pretty much anything goes in Banff and if it's really, REALLY cold... all fashion rules fly out the window for the sake of warmth. Hope you have a great time, the ski hill Banff are some of the best world-wide, though it is my home turf so I am totally biased!

Calgary and Banff are about the same, you can go almost anywhere in jeans, except for the really high end places, such as a five star restaurant.
If you plan to go clubbing, a dressier sweater and jeans should be ok. As for coats people usually wear whatever keeps them warm :o)
