| Vienna | Vienna to Aachen Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 06:15 PM UTC
Hi,
Could someone please advise me on the cheapest way to travel to and fro from Vienna to Aachen? Also, is there a good way to reach Aachen via Munich with halt at Munich for a day or two? Thanks Karthik |

You could get the train from Vienna to Munich, and then a train to Aachen when it suited you. You might also investigate possible coach travel on www.eurolines.com but, unfortunately, the site is not working properly at the moment. This might be cheaper than the train, but would almost certainly take longer.

Hi,
travelling by train from Vienna to Aachen takes about 12 hours; daily there are various trains scheduled, travelling via Munich is also possible. Have a look at the Austrian Railways homepage, at http://tinyurl.com/2lbpf5 where you also will find further infos about tickets / - prices. Have a nice trip !

Leaving the main train station of Vienna with a changover in Munich, than onto Frankfurt, with exchange to Aachen is EURO 172. If you have the bahncard than cheaper. It is more than a 12 ride. Yes there is a daily train from Munich to Frankfurt is you stayed in Munich a few days

You could probably do this quite cheap, with a stop in Munich. The German railways have deals for 29 Euro available on some of their trains. Just go to www.bahn.de and look up the times for the days you want to travel. The trip planner will give you the cheapest fares available for each train.
With a bit of luck you'll be able to do both Vienna - Munich and Munich - Aachen for 29,- each.
