Brussels Need help when arriving in Bruxelles
Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 04:24 PM UTC
Hi everybody, it is urgent,
My name is Franz, on Friday 21. I will arrive at 17 from Hurghada/Egypt where I was living the last 7 years.
The flight is
Fre,21 ma 08 Hurghada 12:45 - Brüssel 17:10 / JAF5628
I have to go to Germany (Fulda) by train lets say 2 or 3 hours later. Can anybody help me and tell me where to go to the railway station, buy a ticket etc. My cat will be with me, please do not laugh about me, I feel lost without any information, I met a very nice woman via internet and we want to be together.
Thanks a lot in advance
Franz

You can have a look at www.bahn.de for train times. Use in "brussel nationaal luchthaven" as your origin, this will give you train times. The railway station at the airport does sell international tickets, and accepts credit cards. After you've retrieved your luggage it's only a short walk to the railway station.

I see that if you manage to take the train at 18:58 you might make it to Fulda a bit after midnight. If you can't make that train there is a night train to Hannover, where you can change to Fulda, to arrive there in the morning.

http://www.bahn.de/p/view/international/englisch/international_guests.shtml has train times and information in English.

The best train to get would be the 18:52, with 3 changes. You may be able to catch this one but I think perhaps you won't because of your cat.

There is a train at 19:52, which will travel overnight and get you to Fulda for 10:10 the next day. It includes 5 changes.

The 23:04 train is probably a better choice: it has only 2 changes and arrives in Fulda at 07:54

It will be a tiring journey, but I do not think you will be able to stay overnight in a Brussels hotel/hostel with your cat.

You have the travel information you need, but you also must check that you can transport your cat, it may not be allowed.

You can take your cat on the train, of course, but you must be sure to have all the correct documentation for it to travel on the aircraft and enter Germany.

It may be that your cat will have to stay in quarantine (be kept under observation for some time). If so then you could stay overnight in Brussels if you wanted, and get a morning train.
