Liverpool Liverpool to the US
Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 04:14 PM UTC
I'm returning to the US after a year abroad and thought that taking a freighter or boat of some sort would be a great way to get back. I'll be in Liverpool at the end of May and was wondering if anyone knew how to book passage on a ship. I don't need to do a cruise or anything, just pretty straight-forward travel back. I live in Duluth MN, right at port so ideally that's where I would like to make it to, but anywhere on American (or Canadian) soil will do. I'm having a hard time finding a website that will tell me what I need to know (how to book, costs, etc.) for a one-way trip back home. Anyone have ideas? Thanks in advance!

It’s a great way to travel if you don’t like the idea of an organised ‘cruise’ I did it years and would do it again anytime.

It was really interesting, I was allowed to spend as much time as I like on the bridge, we had 6 foot bearded cook called Alistair who wore red ball gowns and elaborate earrings most of the time we were at sea.

I don’t know if there is a company you can call in and see in Liverpool, there are a couple of sites below to get you started:

One company that does this in the UK is:

You might want to contact some local freight forwarding agnets / companies in your area. They should be able to get you started. They will have a list of ships and schedules

Good luck getting all the way to Duluth, most of the shipping in/out is Iron Ore. Not much in the international shipping. You can use the student travel recommendation to New York. Than find a way from thier.
