| Kota Kinabalu | traveling with our sons Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 02:39 PM UTC
We're planning to take our children (3 sons), age 12, 11, 9 to Kinabalu on June and will stay there for 5 nights. This is our first visit. Could anyone kindly help us planning our visit? We don't have big budget and love nature alot. Thanks.

Roger's right but it's a question of budget-if you're going to stay on the West Coast (and not go to the east as suggested) then apart from visiting Mt. Kinabalu as suggested (and stay over 1 night), you can also do a day trip to one of the islands off the coast of KK-snorkelling gear can be hired on the boat or at the island-Manukan is the most popular. Just bring your own food. It's expensive there.
There is also a crocodile farm in Tuaran (about 20-30 minute drive from the city)-not exactly nature but probably interesting for the boys. Obviously if you can afford it, go to the east coast as well-seeing the orang-utan is a great experience but I understand that there is a small sanctuary at Rasa Ria Resort in Tuaran but whether it is open to the general public I am not sure.
