hi,

anyone stayed at this hotel before ? South Street 8, XiAn, Shaanxi Province

Is it at a convenient location ? i cant seem to locate it on the map.

or where can i get a more detailed xian map online ?

South Street (Nan jie) is one of the main streets in the city. They start from the Bell Tower, which must be marked. The street names are geographical - Bei jie (North), Dong jie (East) Nan jie(South) Xi jie (West). South street runs down to the south city gate (Nan Men).

I've not stayed there but there are a lot of hotels in that immediate area. A lot of tour buses leave from there.

Johnmperry is right. The Haida hotel is located in the city centre, 100m south to the Bell Tower. It's convenient, but it seems that there are not many VTers knowing about it.The map is here http://www.maps-of-china.net/city/xi%27anm.htm

Haida Hotel is located on a busiest street. It's convinent. If you prefer a quiet place to stay, you should think about Super 8 Hotel and Ibis Hotel. They are still in the city centre, 10 minute walking to the Bell Tower. But they are not on a main street, maybe it is a little bit complicated to find them, you have to follow the sign.
