Cape Town Cape town for single travellers

Hi!

I am travelling to Cape Town in th beginning of April. Since I am travelling alone, I have some questions:

What about the safety for single female travellers during daytime? Which places can I go to? What do I have to take care of?

Does anyone know a tour operator for younger people which goes to Cape of Good Hope or the Table Mountain?

Maybe some of you are there too between April 3rd and 6th. Just contact me!

Thanx for your help!

Cape Town is a great place, even for single travelers. I don't know where you are staying, but if you are at a backpackers it is very likely that you will meet up with other like-minded people. There are many tours and the backpackers / tourist information would be able to assist.
Some things to be aware of - Don't walk around alone at night - get a cab. Stay in well populated, well lit areas - the Waterfront is perfectly safe. Don't walk up the mountains alone, but the cable car is perfectly safe.
Have a good trip.

I am a single female who went to Cape Town last month alone and I did not experience any problems with crime. I can not guarantee that you won't but I think crime is overhyped. Personally I felt more comfortable there than here in NY or in Jamaica. I was in my room before the street lights came on just to be extra cautious. My hotel was in the Greenpoint/De Waterkant area which was in walking distance to the waterfront. This area is pretty safe but I will not recommend the hotel I was in. Try contacting Cape Fusion-Thutka, Way2Go, and Hylton Ross for tours. The age group is mixed but the operators are like 40 and under.
