We are staying at the Vacansoliel site in Beekse Bergen,Hilvarenbeek in August.
I was wandering what there is within walking distance or short driving distance, ie Shops,Family restaurants,parks and lesuire activities.
Kids are aged 4,8,11 and all are very active.
Two years ago we stayed at Duinrell,Wassenaar and found the local area ideal for Shops (Wassanaar was great). Is the Beekse Bergen area anything like this , or is it a case of getting in the car and travelling to Tilburg or Eindhoven.
Also do PSV Eindhjoven do Stadium tours around their ground.

Renting bicycles might be a good idea. Your youngest could sit in a child's seat.

You are not too far from Belgium too (a daytrip could be an option).

The Hilvarenbeek community consists of Hilvarenbeek, Diessen, and the villages Biest-Houtakker, Esbeek, Haghorst and Baarschot. In total 15.000 population.
There should be plenty of shops.

Nearest larger cities are Tilburg and Eindhoven (that's the 4th largest city in NL).

Any Macdonalds,Burger King ,KFC,Pizza Hut etc.
Often useful as a quick fix Holiday meal

Mind you, fast food chains will be either in larger cities and a very few along motorways.
Your best choice is a 'eetcafe' (pub/restaurant) or 'cafetaria' or 'snackbar' which is good with children. I gave you a list in a previous reply.

Smaller towns and villages mostly have chinese takeaway. Search for 'Chinees restaurant' in Hilvarenbeek and the previously mentioned villages.
Popular with children are 'pannenkoekhuis' (pancake restaurants). Google that too.

Along the motorway, near Tilburg direction Breda are two hotel/restaurants of the Van der Valk Group. Notably suitable for families and their value for money. http://www.valk.com/pages/Default.aspx?ID=3771 (type Hilvarenbeek or Tilburg and you'll get Gilze and Gilze-Rijen).

If I may advice you, relax! Don't plan minutely, it isn't necessary. The Netherlands is well equipped with everything you need. We have children here too and families go out for dinner.

How far is the site at Beekse Bergen from Hilvarenbeek ?

you mean the Vacansoleil Park from the actual village Hilvarenbeek?
Strangely enough the address is hard to find. And I phoned them up (at 10 eurocent per minute!) and the lady tells me that she can't give me the address because she doesn't know! Another department does addresses.

Anyhow, Beekse Bergen is about 4-5 kms from Hilvarenbeek.
Use routeplanner www.viamichelin.com for maps.

I read something else.
During your stay you can have free entrance to:
- Safari de Beekse Bergen
- Speelland Beekse Bergen (play ground)
- Ecodrome Zwolle
- Subtropical swimmping pool and skating in Sportium 's-Hertogenbosch
- Dierenrijk Europa Eindhoven (animal park)
- Het Nederlandse stripmuseum in Groningen (comic book museum)

by the way, we are currently paying around 1.65 euro for a liter of unleaded.

Do tell us where you found this information about the rave. Then we can reply better.

Dug around and it is the Decidel Outdoor.Could be loud.....but fun. Why pay 50 Euros for a ticket when you can pay for an holiday and get it thrown in for free !!! Whilst in Rome.......

Got the stadium PSV tour booked on Mon Aug 18th at 1430.
Do you recommend driving there from Beeske Bergen or use public transport ie Train or Bus

By car its onlu 30-35 min to the station, Follow the A2, then take exit 33;
Once you leave the exit go left under the viaduct and follow centrum eindhoven.
you can park at the PSV stadion or at a parking

it costs 14 euro to park a whole day

if you take the train, its easy, when you come from the stairs at the station go left and at the exit go right and you will see the VVV office.
follow the street you will cross 2 trafficlights.
you can see the stadion when you walk towards it:-)
as for traintickets:
you can buy cheap tickets now for 14,95 euro at Ebay, you can go anywhere for a whole day in Holland. Its a special deal with NS (trains) and Ebay
