| Montreal | Reliable weather forecast for Montreal Posted: Sun March 16, 2008 04:50 PM UTC
I'm coming to Montreal the week of March 24th. I'm trying to get a good idea of what the weather will be like so I can pack appropriately. Two websites-MSN Weather and WeatherChannel.com-seem to be off by about 10-14 degrees from each other. Is the weather in Montreal that unpredictable? Is there a reliable weather website that I can use? It would save me a lot of packing trouble if I could get the right weather info.
Thanks |

Check out http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caqc0363
The Weather Network and its French sister station (MétéoMédia) are Canada’s only English and French specialty channels devoted to the weather. Note that we use Celsius instead of Fahrenheit in Canada.

The long range for 03/24 (Sunday) is Sunny and 0 C with -2 overnight.
Monday 03/25 is Snow showers and + 3 with -5 overnight. This is for the border area with Vermont just south of Montreal. Should be about the same in Downtown area. However, it is that time of year when it should start to get warmer. Usually the last week of March the snow starts to melt. But there is lots to melt this winter. They have received a total all winter of about 4 meters. It is still very deep most places. And not much will melt between now and next week. It won't be too cold, but it could be wet and sloppy walking.

Bring some boots that will not get wet : there is a high risk that the sidewalks will be covered by wet snow and to walk with soaking wet boots would ruin any trip !
For the cloth : bring many layers so you could adjust to the weather. If you are lucky, the sun can get pretty nice in midday.

Another weather site that has good information is the offical Government of Canada site: "www.weatheroffice.gc.ca" It should bring up a map of Canada and then you can 'click' on Montreal for a 4-day forecast.

May is a good month to visit since the weather has improved dramatically compared to winter, yet the tourists have not yet arrived in full force. The weather can be sunny or wet, just depends on the various weather fronts that cross North America at the time. The average temperatures in the first two weeks of May are between 3-6 C for daily Lows and 15-21 C for daily Highs, so quite pleasant for exploring during the day. The details can be found by using Google to search for 'Montreal weather trend' and then picking the 3rd item that shows up in the search - namely 'uk.weather.com'. Since it is still April, you will have to click ahead to the next month of May to see the details.
Happy Holidays in Montreal!
