can anyone advise me how to go Alishan? Can take as day trip? i'll be staying @ Tainan.

People usually go up to Alishan from Chiayi.

Definitely not a day trip(50km from Tainan?), at least few days up to a week if you want to climb it. Catch train or bus to Chiayi or Nantou, Not sure, and start from there.

Tainan--> Chiayi --> Alishan , bus or train are both convenient
