| Doha | HELP 17 hours transit in DOHA Monday in July from 6 am to 23 pm Posted: Sun March 16, 2008 10:38 AM UTC
Hello, I will be 17 hours transit in Doha Airport (from 6am to 23pm)and I am thinking about getting out the airport and visiting Doha. I would appreciate if someone can answer the following questions:
- I will go with my wife. Is Doha a dangerous city for women? - Is it easy to take a taxi from the city to the airport? How much is it? - What can I do or visit in Doha for a whole day? Will it be too tired? Where can I go to have lunch? Anything interesting to buy? It will be a monday in July. Thnk you very much Thank you very much |

Wow, it seems to be a long transit. It would be very hot during July. I would advise you get a hotel to rest for the day before depart. Normally the airline will arrange the transit hotel. you can check with the airline.
Well, it is a safe place to visit. I had gone shopping alone and just usual, the men will stare. But proper attire should be ok. If you are going with your wife, it would be anything will happen. I am not sure whether you like spicy food, if yes, you can try out the Indian breakfast here. You can order "Roti Prata" with curry. You can also find some fast food breakfast - Burger King, McDonalds. Then, you can head to the city and gave a glance of its building sculpture. During 5pm, you can go to Al-Corniche to have a walk. Nice sea breeze. You can also take a ride on the boat to see the scenery of Doha city. Getting a driver to airport is not a problem, just that you have to ask for the price first. Nothing special to buy here, unless you have the time to go to the Souq, where there are spices, craft etc. It only opens in the evening. I hope these tips might help a bit.
