i'm looking for places with rooms for around 70-80 euros. please advise.

Try the www.mykonos-web.com but also a good idea is to go without prebook, there are always people with rooms available as soon as you get out of the ferry.
Not a highly recomented tip but is an issue.

try Rhenia Bangalos. i was there last september and was great. simple, honest, good breakfast, pool,20m walking or 5m in a scooter to the town center. close enough to the buzz, but in a quiet area.

I found this site http://www.greece-hotels.ws/mykonos.php that has average rates (from 100 euros but im sure if you look around you will find cheaper) for the hotels as well as reviews so you can see what other people say about it.

thanks for the advise. i think we are all sorted out, unfortunately a little out of the normal budget but our friendly psarou beach hotel was very accommodating after some pressure.
