hotel ibis in xian Posted: Sun March 16, 2008 03:43 AM UTC
hi
anyone has any revies on hotel ibis in xian ? i am planning to stay there, but there is little information on the location.
How do i get there from the train station and are there any public bus going to the terricotta warriors from near the hotel ?
Or does anyone have any recommendations on a convenient place to stay in xian that is about 170rmb for one night.
Thanks

The terracotta warriors are a fair way (30+ km) from the city centre. You could join a tour group, but they tend to have a lot of "shopping opportunities" and not much sightseeing opportunity. On the other hand they go to several places. You could also organise yourself a taxi for the day - I think I paid 250 2 years ago.
Don't know about Ibis. I stayed at City (Inn), which was about 50 yards down Nanjie from Bell Tower, on the right. Less than 200 but I can't say how much less.

We stayed at the Ludao Bin Guan(in the lonley planet) 5min from the main train station we walked.Cost was about 140 for a double.Caught the local bus 306 from the same train station parking lot just east.Lots of buses, went about 8.00am cost about 8 yuan.We caught buses to see various sights in the city or you can walk to most things.Try walking the back streets of the muslim quarters we got some corned beef /mutton which was so tasty

WATCH OUT
Plenty of pickpockets in those busy market streets near the Drum Tower

The hotel in Xian downtown, 2-km from the railway station, on Heping Road. 220-rooms .
Bus number 306 took a little over one hour to get to the Terracotta Warriors.
