| Jamaica | Honeymooners with many questions... Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 06:53 AM UTC
Hello. My name is John and I just have a couple questions that I want to throw out there. We thought we were going to have a Wedding/Honeymoon about a year from now. Thinking that Low months would be good to go.
We decided that we are probably going 4-6months from now. Jamaica; The Caves Resort. Does anybody have anything to say about that resort? Also, we are wanting to see some kind of American or UK based Concert/Show while we are visiting. We are going to spend 5-7 nights (probably 6) so base it however you wish... Can anybody help us out with ANY information at all. This IS our first time doing this afterall... Thank you Future Newlyweds in search... |

Hi John, Cann't say that I know anything about the caves, but wanted to warn you. The time frame you are talking about puts you in the carrabean right in the middle of hurracane season. It is very humid that time of year and you will need trip insurance because the $100 for insurance is well worth the option of spending a night in an airport, or worse. As for the resort, I am a Sandals beleaver. When I go on vacation I don't want to worry about dinner reservations etc. I pay, I show up and Sandals pampers me from there on. Congrats on your wedding, whereever you go it will be fantastic. Just show up wanting to enjoy and you will

Hi John,
I live in Jamaica (in Kingston which is the capital) and I also worked in hospitality in Negril where the Caves hotel is located on the beautiful rugged West End as the area is called. I have a friend also from Kingston who holidays in Negril ONLY at the Caves because the set up is so natural and he is one with nature. I believe you should be able to google it to see the location. My advise is, if you prefer a more natural, rustic holiday and mixed with comfort that it would be the place to go. Others who prefer the 'all inclusive' hotel packages sometimes miss out on the essence of the island but of course Jamaica has so much to offer that we have something for everyone. Also if you like to golf there is the Negril Golf club within the same area and the hotel can arrange bookings for you. The type of concert you are looking for however may not be readily available in the Negril area, you just missed the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues festival in late January which was in Montego Bay (the airport you would use to get to Negril). However in Kingston we have Jazz and Blues concerts mostly every Sunday around the time you are thinking of coming. Perhaps you can also use google to see the events listing at that time. Oh, as the other reply was only concerned with the season, regarding hurricane precautions the hotels are well equipped and follow very strict codes in hurricane preparations so you need not worry, the season begins in June and ends in September but you may very well know that Jamaica is one of the top destination for weddings and honeymoons....and everyone wants to be a June bride (smile) so don't worry. I wish you all the best in your wedding plans and honeymoon. ciao.
